Our programs are open to first or second language English speaking Montrealers who are seeking employment and are able to attend class regularly. Participants must be 18 years of age and older. They must also have Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, CUAET status or a work permit. We encourage you to fill out our contact form or call us to learn more.
No, there is no age limit for program participants, but you must be over 18.
Our Employability program is funded by either Services Québec or other organizations, and therefore there is no cost to you. Both of our English courses cost $150. All training materials are provided by Inicio.
Our Employability program is a 12 week program. Students must attend full-time, in-person from Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Yes, you must be present for all sessions in-person. The Employability program is highly experiential, and each week builds on the previous one. Students cannot take the course online.
Our Employability program is sponsored by Services Québec. Participants do receive a tuition allowance during the program. Depending on your situation, a Services Québec agent will determine if you are eligible for an allowance and the amount you may receive.
No, our current programs are focused on developing personal and professional employability skills, as well as French conversation and digital literacy skills. We can recommend other educational institutions for specific professions or trades.
Participants are sometimes successful in finding work before the end of the program and this is encouraged by our facilitators and coaches. If this happens, you would be allowed to graduate from the program early.
We are happy to say that over 70% of our participants are successful in finding work either during the program or within three months after completing the program.
Our Employability program is a full-time commitment. Certain participants choose to take additional language courses in the evening or on weekends at other institutions. Our English program is designed for people whose level of English is not yet strong enough to be eligible for our Employability program.
Our Employability program is focused on encouraging participants to practice their conversational French with day-to-day activities and build confidence and love for the language so they may eventually pursue further education in French and/or be comfortable in speaking French in the workplace.
We offer French language workshops three times per week, a three-hour conversation club on Fridays, and additional free time when participants are encouraged to develop their skills with support from various language learning apps.
That is completely up to you! Some participants choose to take additional courses at the same time as our Employability program, but you must be available to attend all our classes in-person. Ultimately, Services Québec makes the final decision on your eligibility to the program.
Students must attend all of our workshops. Our Employability program builds on the hard and soft skills necessary for employment success and each of our workshops focuses on something specific, like personal development or employment skills. Every workshop we offer is important and must be completed in order to graduate from the program.
